safety first, and no arguments

Remsol has always prided itself on its rigorous approach to occupational health and safety in all that it does.

For instance, where we provide waste management services to our clients, we always compile a fullsome Hazard Inventory first which forms the backbone of our approach to safety on their site, is constantly updated to reflect any changes we might encounter, and which serves as a trigger for undertaking documented risk assessments.

All processes we undertake or supervise are documented and proceduralised, with safety and compliance with environmental laws carefully intertwined in them.

Staff receive 'benchmark' training in safety, starting with a half-day safety awareness course that forms part of our two week induction programme for new starters.  Then, depending on the role they occupy in the business, they will then also undertake additional safety training in COSHH, manual handling, fire safety and PPE as a minimum as well as attending the IOSH Working Safely (or Managing Safely, as appropriate) to help ensure that our people are all armed with the necessary tools to do their jobs safely.

More specific and detailed health, safety and environmental training is provided to staff based on an annual review of training needs.

Since our launch, we have been very fortunate not to have had a single lost time accident - that's a pretty impressive record considering the nature of the work we do!  All accidents, incidents, near-misses and dangerous occurences are reported using our Unusual Occurence (UNOR) form and investigated internally to identify basic and root causes so that we can learn from these events and continually improve our safety performance in order to avoid more serious future recurrences.

Together, the systems and principles of safety that are enshrined in what we do contribute to our aim of operating a zero harm workplace.

Remsol is proud to be a member of the British Safety Council.
